Prior to joining CLYDEUNION as the Head of the CLYDEUNION Academy in 2008, Bill spent 27 years in Higher Education the majority of which was in Strathclyde University as Senior Lecturer and Course Director for the BSc in Technology and Business Studies and the BA in International Business and Modern Languages.

Bill is a Manufacturing Engineer by profession and is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and sees this mix of Engineering and Academic experience as being key to success in his role as Head of the Academy. With the current and future developments envisaged, CLYDEUNION is moving towards a culture of Continuous Education and Training for all staff – a Learning Company.

It is hoped to achieve this goal by;
    • Providing high quality training and educational experiences for all staff
    • Building strategic partnerships with relevant academic/business/professional and government bodies
      where appropriate
    • Contributing to the business potential of CLYDEUNION to develop sustained success

Bill sees Part-Time education as a key part of his strategy.
